Meet the Mad Ghosts

For those who have read my blog for a while, you know that I have a great deal of respect for BlackFive, an outstanding military blogger with many connections to US service members in Iraq. Today I'm linking to his post that includes a letter sent by USMC LtCol Mark Smith, the Battalion Commander of 2/24. I urge you to read the letter and watch the video at the end of the letter. I can add nothing else.

Meet the Mad Ghosts

Offensive Information over Email

Interesting article about someone who forwarded an email and ended up almost losing her job over it (hat trick: Toungue Tied)
Metro worker forwards anti-Muslim e-mail

It seems to me that this worker was forced to apologize to the world - or lose her job. Apparently, the Nashville Metro policy prohibits forwarding "offensive information". But I think the person who complained was located in another state! Unless the worker forwarded it to him directly (highly unlikely), then she forwarded it to people who were not offended. Once it was forwarded to another individual beyond her initial group, her liability should end. Why? Because the city's email system was not used to send it to the person who was ultimately offended!

Therefore, even though it is dumb to use city email to forward off-color emails, by the city's own policy, it is not prohibited, unless the person sent to is offended.

Who'll care for the orphans?

Now that the shock of the Dec 26 tsunami has begun to wear off, the Indonesian government is faced with the reality of hundreds, if not thousands, of orphans. The immediate need is to place the affected children in orphanages and begin the process of adoption placement. I was taken back initially at two stories on Wired concerning this.

So the Islamic Hijab isn't really required?

Well this was a bit of a surprise! Little Green Footballs pointed out that CAIR is being mildly underhanded and is lying through their teeth to school employees in order to advance their agenda. Big Surprise huh?
